Mixteca in Woodstock

Woah..... all I gotta say. This place is my number 1 favorite Mexican food restaurant, just ahead of Taco Maya. Had 3 different tacos and they made them to perfection, blew my expectations out of the water. I might just come back for dinner and again for lunch tomorrow.

Food's really good. Just kinda noisy as tables are too close to each other. We ordered Asada tacos and Shrimp Fajita. Prices are reasonable. When you get some nachos, you're getting 3 different sauces...Serrano peppers, Jalapeno peppers and I like the most and least spicy is the roasted tomato salsa.

First time here and the place was packed! We stopped for a few margaritas, all of them were delicious! The bartender was absolutely slamemd, working non-stop. But every drink looked amazing, and ours tasted great! Will be back soon for some dinner!

They servers are so amazing and so polite they deserve a good treat for being at the front of the restaurant .so good service the mom and the daughter

The fresh Magaritas are delicious and the food was even better!! I ordered a steak tostada that was mouth watering..seek out this hidden gem !!

Stopped in a few weeks back to pick up take out, sat at the bar and while waiting I enjoyed a Tilapia open faced taco. The filet was huge and unbelievably delicious, the best I've ever had. A bit pricy but worth it.

Inside decor was completely unexpected based on the outside.very pleasant atmosphere, great service, and good food. Will be returning.

Best tequila selection there is period. Better then most touted tequila bars in Chicago

Truly one of the best Mexican restaurants I have EVER been to. Amazing fresh drinks and some of the best "epicurean" Mexican food you will ever have. Barbocoa . . . Melts in your mouth and the flavor is amazing. In a strip mall so you can miss it, but don't the food is worth the trip. Thank you Mixteca we have been coming for years and will be for many to come.

Excellent food and service!!! Margaritas are the best hands down! Little pricey but you get what you pay for. We are mexican food snobs too so to impress us is really rare.

Food was alright, not entirely authentic. Service wasn't the best but I understand how you could lack when you're serving nothing but people in their mid-life crisis. Never offered drinks. Food was bland & that's coming from someone who's eaten Hispanic food their whole life.

Very good, authentic Mexican food. Our food was good.It was very busy and it's not very big inside. Service struggled and was slow. They kept trying to clear plates that we weren't finished with yet. I'm guessing in an attempt to hurry people up for others who are waiting. But we had only just gotten thru the appetizer and turns out out meals weren't coming for quite awhile. They messed up an order but made a replacement. Forgot a burrito, but it eventually came out.Beers were refilled no problem. But the soda that cost more than a taco was not!We may have just picked a bad night. Maybe we'll try them again, after we check out others in the area.

Always fantastic! I love their salsa collection, their tamales are to die for, and the steak tacos are always good, and never fatty. They have a nice, hip atmosphere, with wonderful table top live flowers, and a beautifully done tequila bottle wall. Artfully put together and well placed. And for the true Mexican food fanatic: the horchata is homemade! The bartender/waitress Vicki is extremely friendly and very attentive as well. Always a pleasant experience, and reasonable pricing. My favorite lunch spot!!

After seeing my clients downtown my husband and I thought why not mexican, this hidden gem is amazing the food the drinks the service was GREAT!! Just finished eating and had to post. Will def be back! The vibe was amazing....

The first time me and my husband went, we sat at the bar and both bartenders were amazing as well as the food. The second time we got a table, it was slow which is not common for this place. We sat for 30 minutes waiting for our food and people started pouring in. We decided to step outside for a minute, I left my purse on my chair.. on the way out our server told us to have a nice night, I said "we're not leaving, still waiting for our food and can I please have another drink". We come back in, not even 5 minutes later and my purse is on the bar and our table is cleared. Terrible service. With as much money they're making and how packed it is constantly, they need more than 1 server on a night like tonight. So disappointed! They just pushed us out the door without even giving us our food. Never again!

Wow! Just Wow! Fresh, delicious ingredients put together in amazing dishes. Super friendly staff. Definitely recommend!

I admire this place! They prepare fantastic dishes, they have a rich menu, The cook in that restaurant is very experienced, I love a lot trying all their food. The food is consistently fresh and tasty, the attitude towards the guests is friendly. I often eat in this restaurant and I was never discontended. I recommend it to all my friends.

Ordered 3 tacos with pastor. Dry, tough, no flavor, no spice. Asked for more salsa to add flavor, had to pay more to get some flavor.Suspect pork was a day or 2 old and microwaved. Not very warm or inviting atmosphere. Waiter was good with service.

My wife and I had heard good things about Mixteca so we ordered dinner there tonight for carry out.The $7.00 shrimp fajita taco was flavorful, but light on ingredients: basically a handful of fajita mix and three or four shrimp.My wife got the steak chimichanga for $10.00. She said the flavor was a little spicy but overall good, and thought it was amusing that they served it with a single slice of tomato and a small handful of shredded lettuce (don't expect the usual rice and refried beans with your meal unless you're willing to pay another $1.50).Finally, we ordered the pico de Gallo and chips for $4.50. They forgot the chips.Overall it was....fine, I guess? $25 for an average dinner that would have been better spent if we went to La Taqueria in the Square.I don't regret going to Mixteca, but I won't go back.

Love all the different margarita flavors! The Verde pozole is AMAZING!

This spot is worth trying. They serve large portions for affordable prices. Regularly well kept and with fantastic mood. Would recommend to others.

Great food...lots of amazing cocktail options. Try the devil's cucumber for a spicy cucumber sweetness, it's fantastic.

Best mexican in town right now

The margaritas are fresh and outstanding! The food is good. Small restaurant with limited seating.

Amazing service. Bartender was so attentive I didn't even have to ask for anything! Veggies tasted very fresh, food was great, prepared quickly and tasted wonderful. Margaritas were worth the price, and all the unique glassware was a nice touch.

Words can't even describe how amazing this place is. The food is absolutely incredible, the service was wonderful and can we talk about the wall full of different flavor margaritas!!! They informed us they update them frequently depending on what fruit is fresh and in season. Highly recommend giving this place a visit. Found myself a new taco place!!

Best Margaritas I've ever had; anyone I bring here loves them too. They have really great chimichangas & the chicken Raja is excellent.

A wide variety of unique, bit delicious, ice cream flavors. The staff that helped us was great, free samples and they made sure top help explain what everything was.Generous portions at a reasonable price.

Aj and Rudy were just the best. Food was awesome like always such a "hidden gem" . Nothing beats the fresh cocktails and atmosphere. Please check this out if you haven't been there 5 stars isn't enough

We loved coming to this place but nowadays it seems like its a hit or miss which sucks because it was amazing sometimes its the food and others its our waiter we will keep trying once in awhile an update on those trips as well

Food is good as always and we highly recommend fish tacos ( its a large portion that can we easily split) and ceviche ( if they have it - it’s popular and restaurant frequently runs out of it). Awesome service and people!! Gem in Woodstock IL!!

This place simply knows how to treat their clients. Always with a very welcoming attitude. The food is reasonably priced, regularly fresh and clean.
